How a Tribute to Veterans Can Emphasize the Value of Family

Veteran's Day gives us all an opportunity to pay tribute to people who have
sacrificed to protect our freedoms over the years. How would you define this
process - patriotism or nationalism? In any case, it is a macrocosm with many
parallels to our relationship to home and family. As you remember the veterans
of all wars, reflect on the following ideals as they apply to your own family:

1.Identify the components of what gives life meaning and what
constitutes personal well being, within the context of family.

2.Value each individual's uniqueness and independence.
Let them know how much you respect these qualities.

3.In moments of frustration, recognize that your family
members are ordinary people who have been put in
	extraordinary circumstances.

4.Try to understand why they feel the way they do and why they
do the things they do by putting yourself in their shoes.

5.Acknowledge the richness of family life and relish the
	complexity of it all.

6.Feel the embrace, the protection and the support of the
whole family unit. Express your gratitude for all that
	it provides for you.

How can you create positive thoughts about your family
relationships on a daily basis? Find ways to honor them
as you work to increase the bonds of family unity.
